On June 25th, National Low-Carbon Day, the fourth "Climate Innovation & Fashion Conference" was held in Beijing, aiming to strengthen guidance and communication among textile industry enterprises in their low-carbon transformation and enhance the innovation capabilities of the textile industry in responding to climate change and achieving the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. At the meeting, several important reports were released, including the progress and prospects of climate innovation actions in China's textile and garment industry, a research report on climate actions of 'specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative' enterprises in China's textile industry, a feasibility analysis of renewable energy investment for decarbonization in China's textile industry, and a white paper on the digital passport (DPP) for textile industry products.

The meeting was presided over by Li Bo, director of the Productivity Promotion Department and director of the Textile Product Development Center of the China National Textile and Apparel Council. He emphasized the leading role of the textile industry in addressing climate change and elaborated on the green conference philosophy adhered to at this event.

Sun Ruizhe, the president of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, delivered a welcoming speech. In his speech, he emphasized the urgency and importance of green development in the textile industry and proposed three major initiatives: improving the governance system, collaborative innovation, and global cooperation. He mentioned, "In the new era, China's textile industry is accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces around the new positioning of 'technology, fashion, green and health'." The green concept leads technological innovation, the green connotation is rich in fashionable expression, and green practice ensures healthy development. "Green" has become the ecological foundation and value background color for building a modern textile industry system.

Green leadership and green promotion are key links and important connotations of our high-quality development. Therefore, our promotion of the "dual carbon" work has specific practical significance. Yang Shangbao, the former second-level inspector of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission, in his speech, reviewed the progress of China's "dual carbon" goals and proposed five aspects of the next stage of green development tasks, namely comprehensive green transformation, resource conservation, pollution control, ecological protection and improvement of "dual carbon" work. At the same time, he affirmed the leading role of the textile industry in the "dual carbon" work and advocated an innovation-driven strategy to strengthen the construction of the talent team.
